Il player può essere sfruttato sia come tool personale, sia come engine di altro livello dagli sviluppatori per distribuire applicazioni create con il software di Wolfram Research. Non è solo un semplice “reader” o un runtime ma è un applicativo dotato dello stesso “motore” presente in Mathematica con il quale è possibile trasformare i documenti in animazioni o applets, oltre che essere utile per leggere file notebooks (.nb o .nbp). Con la versione Pro del player è possibile interagire con colleghi tramite report, applets senza bisogno di acquistare il pacchetto. Il materiale dinamico in Mathematica rimane dinamico anche nel Player Pro. àˆ possibile distribuire le applicazioni create attraverso una rete accessibile da un client via browser o altra interfaccia, cosi’ come trasformare la distribuzione di un prototipo locale in un’applicazione di rete. L’applicazione costa 195,00 euro. Dal sito del produttore è disponibile anche una versione gratuita, con meno funzionalità rispetto alla versione a pagamento.
