Ciao. Volevo togliere i quintali di polvere che si sono creati nel mio G4. Ho pero' trovato difficolta' a rimuovere i panneli laterali dopo aver tolto le 4 viti. Rimane attaccata la parte centrale, dove e' disegnata la mela color graphite per intenderci. Si possono togliere agevolmente questi due pannelli o non serve per smontare il resto? Grazie.

Anche il programmino consigliato da voi fa schifo: il mio cel 400 (reali meno di 300, la scheda video integrata porta via 30%) supera il G4!!!

x luca: usando CPU monitor (sul G4dual ci sono 2 barre) si vede in effetti che entrambi i programmi continuano a spostare l'elaborazione da un processore all'altro, ma c'è sempre un G4 che riposa. Strano che proprio due programmi di bench si comportino in questa maniera, non mi è mai capitato con altre applicazioni ...

x Olaf: Heart Beat è stato scritto con realbasic. Tempo fa ho realizzato con RB 3.2.1 un banale programmino di prova che calcolava 20 milioni di volte un'espressione matematica volutamente complicata e riportava il tempo di elaborazione. Con sorpresa ho notato che dava tempi inferiori sul PC che sul Mac, anche se il secondo era decisamente + "pompato". Su OS X inoltre era circa 5 volte + lento!

Rimane comunque il fatto che anche HeartBeat non è valido per comparare la velocità tra Mac/PC, scusate se l'ho proposto ... su VersionTracker ne parlavano bene ... Posted Image

giulio: Strano che proprio due programmi di bench ...

openssl non e' un programma di bench, credo sia il prigramma che gestisce tutte le transazioni sicure, chiamato dai browser e restiituendo loro le info criptate o decriptate... il fatto che abbia un'opzione 'speed' e' un di piu'.

riguardo il programmino in real basic, invece, non credo che far calcolare la stessa cosa dieci milioni di volte sia una buona idea, credo che a quel punto la velocita' della cache e la dimensione ad esemp[io influiscano tantissimo, se il processore si accorge che un calcolo complicato e' stato gia' eseguito e fa prima a recuperare il risultato ancora in memopria che a ricalcolarlo, allora fa cosi' almeno, io farei cosi'... dovrestio provare a variare l'algoritmo in funzione del numero della prova, ad esempio, scegliendo fra una decina o piu', e magari inserire un'inizializzazione di tutte le variabili (ma non i contatori) ogni mille cicli, tanto per essere sicuri che non riutilizzi i dati precedenti... le specFP, in genere, usano una serie di test, eseguiti una volta sola, ma pesanti singolarmente, che so, calcolare una DFT(Direct fourier transform), una FFT(Fast fourier transform), e cose cosi'... ma anche con le specFP, i PPC della Apple non se la cavano tanto bene, ormai... colpa della velocita' effettiva, o mossa deliberata di Intel e AMD che ottimizzano il processore per performare bvene nei benchmark, e meno nella vita reale? storia vecchia, questa... per inciso, io fra X sul mio [email protected] ed un [email protected] non ho visto differenzeche non potessero essere giustificate nella differenza di scheda video... mi riferisco solo alla contrazione liquida delle finestre e le altre carinerie dell'interfaccia... e' veramente ottimizzato per G4? mah!

Ragazzi mi sapreste dare specifiche sul' interfaccia pcmcia e la sua velocità di scambio dati?Per esempio nei vecchi powerbook senza firewire o in Notebook wintel mettendoci una scheda pcmcia-firewire si ha un collo di bottiglia dovuto alla maggior velocità del firewire?Grazie

Esistono vari tipi fi PCMCIA, a 16 e a 32 bit, e con diverse modalità di scambio dati. Oltre a questo non ti so dire molto, anche se penso che la FW a 400Mb non trovi un collo di bottiglia nella pcmcia a 32 bit.

Mi pare che qualunque macchina (mac) usiamo il risultato sia pressoché lo stesso. Forse chi dice che OSX è ancora troppo acerbo per notare differenze prestazionali tra una macchina e l'altra ha ragione. Io sono in attesa del Ti550 (e di OSX), per cui mi baso solo su ciò che leggo su Internet ed in particolare su Macity, ma a voi non pare? Su OS9 la differenza tra un iMac400 e un PMac 867 si nota nettamente, su OSX molto meno mi pare sempre di capire.

mickey e gennaro, potreste postare solo l'ultima parte dell'output, il riassunto generale? altrimenti corriamo il rischio di confrontare mele con cipolle.

riguardo le prestazioni con altre applicazioni aperte e chiuse, credo che il programma non si lasci influenzare da cio', perche' come 'time' calcola le medie a partire dal tempo cpu assegnato al task, e non dal clock di sistema. spero di essermi spiegato bene... comunque, se volete un test generico, basta che battiate

> time 'command'

ed il ssystem vi dice quanto tempo utente, e quanto tempo system il computer ha impiegato il programma a venire portato a termine.

ovviamente command va sostituito col programma da testare, ad esempio 'openssl speed'
