L’utility può essere configurata per essere visualizzata nella Dock, nella barra dei menu, in entrambe le posizioni e anche in background. Le notifiche nel tradizionale stile Growl con le finestre in trasparenza e poi a scomparsa vengono visualizzate quando si stacca il cavo di alimentazione dei portatili Mac, quando l’utente collegare una nuova tastiera, una chiavetta di memoria USB, le cuffie USB e così via. Oltre a monitorare e avvisare circa le modifiche hardware, HardwareGrowler avvisa l’utente anche quando si verificano cambiamenti nel collegamento alla rete, per esempio quando cambia il punto di accesso wireless o quando viene modificato l’indirizzo IP della macchina che stiamo utilizzando.
