Potete farlo con [questa scheda](http://totallycoolgadgets.com/runcore-usb-3-0-expresscard-doubles-as-ssd/) per slot ExpressCard/34 che non solo mette a disposizione due porte USB 3.0 ma include anche un drive SSD da 64GB. La scheda (utilizzabile sui nuovi MacBook Pro da 17” e sulle vecchie generazioni da 15” o 17”) s’interfaccia direttamente con il bus PCI Express e le velocità di lettura/scrittura dichiarate sono rispettivamente di 110MB/s e 80MB/s. Una delle due porte USB 3 funziona oltretutto nella modalità “dispositivo” il che vuol dire che è possibile utilizzare il drive come se si trattasse di un disco esterno. Quando il disco SSD è utilizzato, la larghezza di banda del bus USB è inferiore (i trasferimenti sono più lenti). Prezzo e disponibilità effettiva non sono stati annunciati. La stessa società propone [drive SSD da 1,8”](http://www.runcore.com/en/ProductShow.asp?ID=64) (32, 64 e 128GB) con connettori ZIF sfruttabili con le primissime versioni del MacBook Air.
